Let me introduce myself; my name is Theresa and I am representing the beautiful region of Eastern Ontario. I am 18 years old and a resident of the quaint little community of Barry’s Bay. I am the youngest of 8 siblings so I learned “how to share” very early in life! I am currently finishing my high school career at Madawaska Valley High School with my graduation pending in June.
In September I will be continuing my post secondary education at the University of Ottawa.
As the baby of a large family, I have been very fortunate to have had the love and protective support of my older siblings and my parents. Family is the essence of who we are and I am truly blessed to have had such a loving environment to call home. My family has a very strong faith and our extended church family is a very important aspect of our life.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted” Aesop
This quotation personifies how I live my life. I believe in doing for others and I have reaped the personal satisfaction from my volunteer endeavours. Over the past few years, I have volunteered extensively in my community, for my church and throughout the Eastern Ontario Region. I have volunteered at many events for various charities but my passion has become promoting awareness of, and raising funds for, CHILDHOOD CANCER.
I was introduced to many childhood cancer charities through my 2014 reign as Miss Teen Ontario East and was forever touched by the young cancer heroes that I had the opportunity to meet and get to know. It has become my mission to educate others on the challenges faced not only by the children affected by this dreaded disease but also the extreme circumstances that their families are subjected to. It has been truly life-changing. I will be presenting a special BLOG series on Childhood cancer in the coming weeks with the objective that I can bring Childhood Cancer Awareness to the national stage through my blog.
Representing the beautiful region of Eastern Ontario is indeed an honour and I am humbled to wear the title of Miss Teenage Eastern Ontario 2015. Stay tuned to my blog over the coming weeks as I take this unique opportunity to highlight some of our breathtaking scenery and introduce you to some of our famous landmarks and tourist attractions. Over the past year as I attended various functions as Miss Teen Ontario East, I was often asked what was the most memorable location that I visited and I can honestly say, that although each area had an impact on me, it was the people that I met that enhanced my life. I can confidently say that I come from the friendliest area in this great country!
I am very excited to be a delegate in this year’s Miss Teenage Canada Pageant. I am looking forward to meeting other young women from across our country and having the experience of a lifetime.
Keep tuned in,
Miss Teenage Eastern Ontario
